Useful WordPress Plugins

There are several thousand WordPress plugins in the WordPress community and new plugins are coming out everyday. The vast majority are totally free. WordPress is an excellent tool for creating web pages and news (called posts or blogs) pages. A basic WordPress site can be created in literally 5 minutes, however the WordPress site will not have the correct ‘look’ or theme. Nor will it have some very useful bolt-on extras that add functionality – these extra bits are called plugins.
There are several thousands of WordPress plugins in the WordPress community and new plugins are coming out everyday. Most plugins are free (although some developers ask for a small donation whilst some sell more advanced plugins). So how do you know which plugins are right for you? Well, here is a list of plugins that I have used or played around with. Hopefully you will something useful here.
- Admin Menu Tree Page View – If you want quick access to your pages from the WordPress dashboard then this is a real time saver. FREE
- My Page Order – Allows you to drag and drop the pages into the order you require. FREE
- Configurable Tag Cloud – The built-in tag cloud widget in WordPress can be replaced with this widget with lots of configuration options, you also get font and color control of the generated links. FREE
- Platinum SEO Pack – Optimizes your WordPress blog for Search Engines (Search Engine Optimization). FREE
- Contact Form 7 - This manages multiple contact forms, plus you can customize the form and the mail contents flexibly with simple markup. The form supports CAPTCHA spam filtering. FREE
